2.05 – LITS Data Privacy Compliance Policy

Purpose of Document:

To define the role of LITS in maintaining data privacy and limiting access to sensitive and confidential data.

Policy:
Asbury Theological Seminary (ATS) adheres to the principles laid out in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as described in the annual FERPA notification to students. LITS supports the Seminary in that endeavor as well as other applicable privacy laws, including but not limited to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. 

All records of a student’s use of LITS services (Library, Writing Center, Technical Support, IDT, etc.) are considered educational records and are protected under FERPA. LITS will not release this information, except as allowed under FERPA guidelines. 

Any requests for other faculty, staff, student, etc., data received by LITS will be redirected to the appropriate office for approval. LITS does not release this information. 

LITS Staff reserve the right to modify this policy at any time.
